You might as well read it now: Frank, you know that I know some very dear gay and lesbian people, and I grant them people-ness as individuals with every fiber of my being. Foaming-at-the-mouth gay activists, however, when they go so far beyond demanding that their society see to it that gays not be harassed, beaten up and even killed, have stretched the definition of discrimination too far. Blurring and diluting an institution that has been a beacon in enlisting young people's willing aid in ensuring that future generations will be brought into this world not as unwanted burdens but into stable situations where two parents will be financially and personally strong enough-- and will have an agreeing community around them-- to stay together for the 20 or so years each child needs them. (Spare me the smartass answer that we have 1)enough scientific knowledge about the human race 2) efficient and safe enough "family planning tools" and 3) numerous enough and competent enough psychological professionals, to render dispensable these responsible, committed, firsthand individuals who are motivated-- by personal concern down to the dna level-- to hit the deck running in the creation of strong new citizens.) bJon |
